Silicon dioxide is an important raw material for the manufacture of glass, quartz glass, water glass, optical fiber, important parts of the electronics industry, optical instruments, crafts and refractory materials, and is an important material for scientific research.

Use of silicon dioxide: flat glass, glass products, foundry sand, glass fiber, ceramic glaze, sandblasting for rust prevention, sand for filtration, flux, refractories, and manufacturing of lightweight lightweight concrete (Autoclaved Lightweight Concrete). The use of silica is wide. The relatively rare crystals in nature can be used to make important parts of the electronics industry, optical instruments and crafts. Silica is an important raw material for making optical fibers. Generally relatively pure quartz can be used to make quartz glass. The expansion coefficient of quartz glass is very small, which is equivalent to 1/18 of ordinary glass. It can withstand sudden changes in temperature and has good acid resistance (except HF). Therefore, quartz glass is often used to make high temperature resistant chemical instruments. Quartz sand is often used as glass raw materials and building materials.
