Faced with 400 million tons of plastic waste worldwide every year, an innovative solution has been proposed using fluorinated modified hydrophobic white carbon black. When these nanoparticles are added to PE/PP blends at a ratio of 3%, the degradation rate of the material in marine environments can be increased by 8 times while maintaining its original mechanical properties. More groundbreaking is that its surface silanol groups can form catalytic sites with enzymes secreted by microorganisms. This article reveals the molecular dynamics simulation results of this bio inorganic synergistic degradation mechanism.
