On July 14, 2025, Emeishan Changqing New Materials Co., Ltd. and Sichuan University of Light Chemical Technology jointly announced that their jointly established "China Gas Phase White Carbon Black Material Application Research Center" has successfully achieved technological transformation. The HB-215 gas-phase white carbon black developed by the center has a specific surface area of 500m ²/g and a porosity of over 90%. After adding 5% to the negative electrode material of lithium-ion batteries, the battery cycle life is increased by 40%, and the energy density exceeds 350Wh/kg. The chairman of the company stated that this technology has passed the pilot test and is expected to achieve large-scale production by 2026, breaking the foreign monopoly on high-end gas-phase white carbon black technology. At present, the material has been granted 3 invention patents and 12 utility model patents.
