The role of dispersant

7, the role of dispersant to increase color spread and color saturation is most easily overlooked. Some examples show that when different dispersants are used to disperse the same pigment, its hue and saturation will be significantly different. Generally speaking, the better the dispersion, the higher the saturation (if carbon black, the better the dispersion, the lower the L value, the higher the blackness).
8. Increase transparency or hiding power. For aluminum powder paint, the higher the transparency of the color paste, the better. For plain paint, the higher the hiding power of the color paste, the better. This is actually related to the particle size of the pigment. Data show that in addition to refractive index, pigment particle size distribution is another important factor for transparency. As the particle size increases, the ability to scatter light increases to a maximum, and then begins to decrease. This ability to scatter light enhances the hiding power of the pigment, reaching the maximum when the scattering ability is the strongest, and the hiding power will decrease as the particle size continues to increase. When the particle size of the pigment is lower than a certain value, as the particle size decreases, the transparency increases. The dispersant cannot change the characteristics of the pigment itself, but can control the particle size distribution of the pigment to achieve a more ideal color effect.
9. Improve grinding efficiency and reduce production cost. The wetting function of the wetting dispersant enables the air and water on the pigment surface to be replaced more quickly by the liquid of the grinding medium, while maintaining the separation of the primary pigment particles obtained during the dispersion stage. And control. These have improved grinding efficiency, reduced energy consumption and labor costs.
10. Preventing Settlement Many people take it for granted that anti-settling must rely on anti-settling agents, but this is one-sided. If the ground color paste has flocculation, the pigment particles become larger, the density increases, and it will settle quickly. The colorant with the proper dispersant can be added with little or no anti-settling agent.
