There are three types of silanols on the surface of white carbon black. This is not the result of my experiments. It is the result of others' research. The structure (hydrogen bonding) effect is the isolated and highly reactive silanols. The huge amount of hydrogen bonds here is caused by nanometer powder. If it is micrometer silicon powder, the amount is too small and there is almost no structuring effect. When the silanol group of silica is blocked or isolated in some way, the structuring will be reduced. If the blocking or isolation is sufficient, the structuring will not occur. This is the result of my experiment, and also the experiment of many people. This process is usually the so-called white carbon black treatment, and the product is called "hydrophobic white carbon black". Although I also use the term hydrophobic white carbon black commercially, I think this title is wrong, at least unscientific . The reason is that hydrophobic white carbon (it does have external hydrophobicity), the same kind of hydrophilic white carbon black as raw material, but different treatments, although the hydrophobicity can be exactly the same, when added to silicone rubber, it may not have Anti-structuring effect. In other words, as a technician of silicone rubber, it does not mean that as long as hydrophobic white carbon black is selected, anti-structured products can be obtained.
