The final step in the production of water-based wood lacquers is viscosity adjustment. The viscosity term is called rheological properties. Good waterborne wood lacquer must have good leveling and good sag resistance. Improving leveling can reduce unnecessary waste. On the other hand, the feel and gloss of the paint film will be greatly improved. When the viscosity is not enough, it will cause sagging. If the viscosity is too high, it will affect the leveling. To maintain the balance between leveling and sag, polyurethane thickeners are generally used, which will not affect water resistance, but also improve viscosity and leveling.
