In the past year, the R&D investment in the domestic silica industry increased by 18.6% year-on-year, focusing on the two major directions of green production process optimization and high-end product research and development. Among them, a major breakthrough has been made in the clean production technology of precipitation silica, and many enterprises have successfully realized the resource utilization of wastewater and waste gas, and the water consumption and energy consumption per ton of products have been reduced by 12% and 15% respectively, which has completely changed the pain points of high pollution and high energy consumption in the traditional production mode and promoted the transformation of the industry to low-carbon and clean.

In the field of high-end product research and development, the pace of domestic enterprises breaking foreign technology monopolies continues to accelerate. According to the data released at the meeting, the proportion of high-end products such as high-dispersion silica and fumed silica in China has increased to 32%, an increase of 10 percentage points from two years ago. Among them, the high specific surface area silica used in new energy vehicle tires has achieved performance upgrades through independent research and development, and the core indicators such as product dispersion and wear resistance have reached the international advanced level, breaking the monopoly of European and American enterprises in this field.

In addition to the upgrading of traditional application fields, the application scenarios of silica in emerging fields continue to expand. The reporter learned that relying on its excellent reinforcement, thickening, anti-ultraviolet and other properties, silica has been widely used in emerging fields such as new energy battery sealing, photovoltaic module packaging, high-end daily chemicals, and biomedicine, and has become an important support for promoting the development of the new material industry. Among them, special silica in the photovoltaic field can effectively improve the weather resistance and service life of modules, and has been adopted by leading domestic photovoltaic companies in batches, with an average annual growth rate of more than 25% in market demand.

Experts from industry associations said at the meeting that the silica industry is currently in a critical period of structural adjustment and high-quality development, and technological innovation and green transformation are the core competitiveness. In the future, with the continuous increase in R&D investment and the deepening of the integration of industry, education and research, domestic silica companies will further break through the technical bottleneck of high-end products, optimize the production capacity structure, and promote the transformation of the industry from "scale expansion" to "quality improvement". At the same time, with the continuous expansion of emerging application fields, the market space of the silica industry will be further released, and it is expected to achieve a good development trend of both quantity and quality.
