(May 9, 2026) With the rapid development of high-end manufacturing, new energy, and new electronic materials industries, fumed silica is accelerating the replacement of traditional precipitation silica in many high-end fields with its better particle size, dispersion, and hydrophobic properties, and has become the core main line of industry technology upgrading.
In the past, the precipitation method silica focused on cost performance, which was mainly used in ordinary rubber, low-end coatings, basic fillers and other fields, with low market threshold and fierce homogeneous competition. With its nano-scale native particle size, high purity, strong thickening thixotropy, anti-sedimentation and other characteristics, fumed silica deeply cuts into high-precision scenarios such as silicone sealants, lithium battery electrolytes, high-end electronic packaging, pharmaceutical preparations, and high-end cosmetics.
At present, a number of new construction and technological transformation projects of gas-phase silica in China have been steadily implemented, breaking the overseas high-end monopoly, and the process of domestic autonomy has been significantly accelerated. At the process level, the raw material ratio and combustion synthesis technology are continuously optimized, and key indicators such as product hydrophobicity and specific surface area continue to benchmark against international first-line standards, greatly reducing the procurement cost and supply dependence risk of downstream enterprises.
Judging from market feedback, the procurement tendency of downstream high-end manufacturing enterprises has changed significantly, giving priority to the use of domestic fumed silica to replace imported and low-end precipitation products, and the order growth rate continues to rise. The industry pattern has also been reconstructed: the low-end stock market is under pressure, and high-end technology products are in short supply and gross profit is considerable.
The industry view believes that the core of competition in the silica industry in the future is no longer the scale of production capacity, but process technology, product brand, and application adaptation capabilities. The substitution of gas-phase French production and chemical production will continue to deepen and become the core track with the most growth potential in the silica industry in the next 3-5 years.
