(April 22, 2026)Today, a number of domestic universities, scientific research institutes and silica manufacturers jointly released new achievements in industry-university-research cooperation, marking that China's silica industry has gradually broken the development bottleneck of "R&D and production, talent and demand".

In the past, the silica industry had the problem of "focusing on theoretical research on the scientific research side and focusing on production and application on the enterprise side", and the new technologies developed by universities were difficult to quickly transform into actual productivity. In order to solve this dilemma, domestic industry-university-research cooperation has recently shown a development trend of "normalization, depth, and precision".

In terms of the transformation of technological achievements, a number of universities and chemical enterprises have jointly built joint R&D laboratories to focus on key technical bottlenecks in the production process of silica and carry out targeted research. For example, a chemical technology university cooperates with leading silica enterprises in Shandong and Jiangsu to develop the "silica production wastewater resource recycling technology" has completed the pilot test and will be put into industrial application, which can achieve a production wastewater recovery rate of more than 95%, greatly reducing the environmental protection cost and water resource consumption of enterprises; Another university team developed a "new high-efficiency surface modification additive" that can improve the compatibility of silica with organic materials, and the related technology has been successfully transferred to enterprises to help enterprises improve the added value of products.

In terms of talent cultivation, universities and enterprises jointly build training bases and customized talent training programs to achieve "school-enterprise collaborative education". Enterprises send technical backbones to the campus to carry out practical teaching and share cutting-edge technology and production experience in the industry; According to the job needs of enterprises, colleges and universities optimize the curriculum, add practical courses such as silica production technology, modification technology, and environmental protection treatment, and cultivate professionals with both theoretical knowledge and practical ability. At the same time, schools and enterprises jointly carry out skills training for in-service employees to improve the technical level of existing employees and alleviate the pressure of talent shortage in the industry.

In addition, industry associations actively play the role of bridges, take the lead in building an industry-university-research cooperation platform, integrate the scientific research resources of universities and scientific research institutes with the production resources of enterprises, and promote the efficient docking of technology, talents, capital and other elements. Up to now, more than 20 universities and more than 10 scientific research institutes in China have established long-term cooperative relations with more than 30 silica enterprises, and a total of 15 technology transformation projects have been implemented, and more than 800 professional and technical talents have been trained.

Industry experts said that the deep integration of industry, education and research is the key path for the silica industry to break through the bottleneck of development and achieve high-quality upgrading. In the future, with the continuous deepening of cooperation, it will further promote scientific research achievements from "laboratory" to "production line", cultivate more professionals to meet the needs of the industry, solve the dual problems of technical bottlenecks and talent shortage, promote the transformation of China's silica industry from "scale expansion" to "quality improvement", and enhance the core competitiveness of the industry.
