April 21, 2026Recently, the supply side of the domestic silica industry has continued to usher in new progress, with the accelerated layout of green and low-carbon new process production capacity, superimposed on the technical transformation and upgrading of existing production capacity, the continuous optimization of the industry supply structure, and the gradual filling of high-end production capacity gaps.

Previously, the carbon dioxide acidification silica project with a total investment of 1.02 billion yuan in Weifang, Shandong Province has entered the preliminary construction stage, and the project is planned in three phases, with an annual production capacity of 60,000 tons in the first phase, which is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2027. At the same time, many places in Jiangsu and Fujian have strictly implemented the adjustment policy of the chemical industry, accelerated the elimination of low-end ordinary silica plants below 15,000 tons/year, restricted backward production processes, and forced the industry to eliminate inefficient production capacity.

At the same time, existing domestic production enterprises are actively carrying out environmental protection technological transformation, replacing high-energy-consuming coal-fired equipment, laying out clean energy heating systems, stabilizing existing production capacity while improving the green level of production, in line with the industry's dual carbon development direction.

At present, the total domestic silica production capacity exceeds 2.5 million tons/year, but there are structural contradictions such as overcapacity for general use and shortage of high-end products. With the commissioning of new process projects, the clearance of low-end production capacity, and the simultaneous advancement of enterprise technology and technological transformation, the concentration of industry production capacity continues to increase, the market share of leading enterprises is further expanded, and the supply capacity of high-dispersion and high-purity special silica will be significantly improved, fully matching the upgrading needs of domestic new energy, high-end rubber and fine chemicals.
