Application of Silicone Resin

Hits: 756 img

The ring structure of silicone resin can produce many previously unimaginable products.
Silicon is the second largest element on earth, and 28% of the earth's crust is silicon, which exists in sand, silicates and many minerals like quartz. Silicon atoms are linked with oxygen atoms to form long polymer chains, which form a ring structure, thus synthesizing silicone resin. These polymers look like coils and have a buffer-like function. Unlike other molecules, this coil can be coiled or unwound smoothly under ambient conditions.
This kind of curling structure exists in the material form from gaseous to brittle solids, and can also be manufactured with many different viscosities, densities, structures and functions. The unique combination of these coils has stimulated industrial production, producing many products that were previously unimaginable.
Unique performance
The unique properties of silicone resin cover a large number of functions. Most notable is the excellent temperature resistance. Silicone resin can keep stable at - 90 - 330 degree C. This relatively wide range contrasts sharply with most organic compounds, which begin to solidify above 0 C and fade and oxidize at 120 C. Silicone resin is very suitable for outdoor use because of its inherent ultraviolet (UV) and oxidation resistance and excellent weather resistance. Silicone resin does not fade and crack as organic matter does over time.
Silicone resin has similar insulating properties to glass products, so it has perfect applications in electronic products. In addition, the special ozone and corona resistance enable it to be used for high voltage applications. Silicone resin provides good water resistance and water immersion stability, so they can also be found in the field of underwater instrumentation. As a kind of rubber, silicone resin is used in gaskets and seals because of its high compressive deformation resistance. Its own bonding ability is used in the conveyor belt of the oven for baking food, as well as in the elastic mould of injection materials and low melting point alloys.
Silicone resin has excellent ultraviolet resistance and can be used in high-energy lighting, instruments and solar energy facilities. In the 1950s and 1960s, a large number of artificial hearts were studied. Since then, the biocompatibility of silicone resin has enabled it to be used in various implants, wound care and drug delivery systems.
