The Preparation Process of White Carbon Black: The Transformation from Raw Materials to Fine Products

Hits: 1137 img

The preparation of white carbon black is a magnificent transformation from simple raw materials to high-tech products. At present, the mainstream methods for preparing white carbon black in the market mainly include gas-phase method and precipitation method, each of which has its unique process characteristics and applicable fields.

Gas phase method: Using silicon tetrachloride as raw material, it is vaporized at high temperature and reacts with hydrogen and oxygen to produce silica particles. After collection and treatment, high-purity gas-phase white carbon black is obtained. The white carbon black produced by this method has small particle size, large specific surface area, and high purity, and is widely used in high-end electronics, catalyst carriers, and other fields.

Precipitation method: Sodium silicate reacts with acid to form silica precipitate, which is then washed, dried, and calcined to produce precipitated white carbon black. This method has low cost, easy availability of raw materials, and the produced white carbon black has a wide range of applications in industries such as rubber and plastics.

With the continuous progress of technology, new preparation processes such as sol gel method and microemulsion method are also emerging, providing more possibilities for the performance optimization and application expansion of silica.
