As an important industrial raw material, the preparation process and technological progress of white carbon black have always been highly concerned. This article will introduce several main preparation methods and technical characteristics of white carbon black, and explore future development trends.
1、 Gas-phase method
Gas phase method is one of the main methods for preparing high-purity and high-performance white carbon black. This method uses silicon tetrachloride as the raw material, which is hydrolyzed at high temperature in a hydrogen oxygen flame to produce silica particles, and then undergoes post-treatment processes such as aggregation and deacidification to obtain white carbon black products. Gas phase white carbon black has the advantages of small particle size, large specific surface area, and high purity, and is widely used in high-end rubber, plastics, coatings, and other fields. However, the complex process, high energy consumption, and high cost of gas-phase method limit its application in large-scale production.
2、 Precipitation method
Precipitation method is another commonly used method for preparing white carbon black. This method uses sodium silicate and acid as raw materials, generates silica precipitate through acid-base neutralization reaction, and then obtains white carbon black product through washing, drying, crushing and other processes. The precipitation method of white carbon black has the advantages of simple process, low cost, and easy large-scale production, and is widely used in the fields of middle and low-end rubber, plastics, coatings, etc. However, the particle size and specific surface area of precipitated white carbon black are relatively small, and its reinforcement performance is not as good as that of gas-phase white carbon black.
3、 Sol gel method
Sol - gel method is a new method to prepare silica. In this method, silica alkoxide or silicate ester is used as raw material to generate sol through hydrolysis polycondensation reaction, and then silica products are obtained through gel, drying, calcination and other processes. Sol gel silica has the advantages of uniform particle size, large specific surface area and controllable pore structure, which is suitable for preparing high-performance silica materials. However, the sol gel process is complex, long cycle and high cost, which is still in the laboratory research stage.
4、 Technological progress and future trends
In recent years, with the advancement of technology and the improvement of environmental protection requirements, new progress has been made in the preparation process and technology of white carbon black. For example, the performance and quality of silica have been improved by optimizing the process parameters of the vapor phase method, developing new precipitants, and improving the sol-gel process; Meanwhile, researchers are also exploring new methods for preparing white carbon black using renewable resources to reduce production costs and minimize environmental pollution. In the future, the preparation process of white carbon black will pay more attention to environmental protection, efficiency, and sustainable development.
