Gas phase white carbon black: the industrial monosodium glutamate of the nano world

Hits: 1010 img

Gas phase white carbon black (particle size<10 nm), with a purity of over 99% and a specific surface area of 300 m ²/g, has become a "performance enhancer" in fields such as silicone rubber, coatings, and electronic packaging. Its preparation adopts the high-temperature hydrolysis process of silicon tetrachloride, with a reaction temperature of 1800 ℃. The generated aerosol is refined through 12 processes including aggregation, separation, and deacidification.

In the field of electronics, using gas-phase white carbon black as packaging material can increase thermal conductivity by three times; In the coating, its refractive index (1.457) matches the resin, achieving a matte effect while maintaining transparency. However, the shortage of raw material silicon tetrachloride (which is only stably supplied by companies such as Germany's Evonik and China's CBT globally) has constrained capacity expansion and driven the industry's transformation towards comprehensive utilization of polycrystalline silicon by-products.

Domestic enterprises have realized large-scale production of nano silica by developing new processes such as ammoniation process and sol gel process. The cost is 40% lower than that of traditional processes, providing key material support for emerging industries such as 5G communication and new energy vehicles.
