Traditional white carbon black is known as a rubber reinforcing agent, but a recent breakthrough in the scientific research community is pushing it to the center of the new energy stage. In 2025, the XX University team developed a lithium-ion conductive white carbon black through precise surface functional group control technology. This material forms three-dimensional nanochannels in the separator, increasing the lithium ion migration number from 0.3 to 0.7, while reducing the internal resistance of the battery by 18%. Experiments have shown that the capacity retention rate of lithium iron phosphate batteries equipped with this separator reaches 85% at -20 ℃, which is 30% higher than traditional materials. At present, companies such as CATL and BYD have initiated joint testing and are expected to achieve commercial application by 2026. White carbon black is transforming from a "behind the scenes tonic" to an "energy transmitter".
