White carbon black: the driving force behind the color revolution in quantum dot displays

In quantum dot televisions, white carbon black based encapsulation adhesives extend the lifespan of quantum dots from 10000 hours to 50000 hours by suppressing the permeation of oxygen and water vapor. More importantly, its refractive index (1.45) forms a gradient matching with the quantum dot layer (1.8-2.2), increasing light extraction efficiency by 15% and achieving NTSC 120% color gamut coverage, surpassing OLED display effects. Chinese display company BOE has applied white carbon black based encapsulation adhesive to the production of 8K quantum dot TVs, reducing the amount of quantum dot material used in a single TV by 30% and lowering costs by 15%.

With the popularization of Mini/Micro LED technology, the demand for white carbon black in the display field is expected to soar from 20000 tons in 2025 to 100000 tons in 2030, with a market size exceeding 5 billion yuan. In addition, white carbon black can also be used to develop flexible display materials, with its high elastic modulus and fatigue resistance, increasing the bending life of foldable screens from 100000 times to 500000 times.
