Silica is a highly dispersed amorphous powder or flocculent powder, light in weight, with high electrical insulation, porosity and water absorption. Its original particle size is less than 3um, so its surface area is large, and it has good reinforcement and viscosity increasing effects as well as good dispersion, suspension and vibration liquefaction characteristics. It has been widely used in more than ten fields such as plastics, rubber, paper making, coatings, dyes and inks. Especially in the rubber industry, white carbon black ranks first for its superior reinforcement and transparency.


According to different quality, it has different applications. Precipitation silica is mainly used in automobile rubber tires, pesticide feed, paint, toothpaste and other additives.


Precipitated silica is widely used in rubber and plastic filling and reinforcing agent, ink thickener, paint and coating additive, synthetic grease and silicone thickener, tanning agent, pesticide dispersant, paper filler, additive of synthetic resin (polyester resin, elastic polyurethane), electrical and electronic insulation filler, daily chemical raw materials and other industries. At the same time, it can be used as an opening agent for polypropylene and non-toxic PVC plastic film, and as an anti caking agent and carrier for food, pesticide and medicine.


In the resin matrix composite, silica particles can be fully and evenly dispersed into the resin material, which greatly improves the strength, toughness and ductility of the epoxy resin material, improves the wear resistance, improves the surface finish of the material, and improves the anti-aging performance. So as to achieve the goal of improving the performance of resin based materials.


In the plastic industry, white carbon black can be used for light transmission and small particle size to make plastics more dense. It not only improves its transparency, strength and toughness, but also significantly improves its waterproof performance, anti-aging performance, hardness and smoothness. For example, ordinary plastic polypropylene is modified with nano silica, and now the main technical indicators (water absorption, insulation resistance, compression residual deformation, flexural strength, etc.) have reached or exceeded the performance indicators of engineering plastic nylon 6, realizing the use of polypropylene railway accessories instead of Nilon 6, greatly reducing the product cost, and its economic and social benefits are very significant.


In the rubber industry, carbon black is usually added to the rubber compound to improve strength, wear resistance and aging resistance, but the products are black due to the addition of carbon black. For example, after adding a small amount of nano silica into ordinary rubber, the strength, wear resistance and aging resistance of the product can reach or exceed those of high-grade rubber products, and the color can be kept unchanged for a long time. Tires are usually black, but the tires made of nano materials are not only bright in color, but also have greatly improved performance. The bending resistance of tire side rubber has been improved from 100000 times to 500000 times.


In color TV and other household appliances, carbon black is required to be added in the materials for electrostatic shielding, so household appliances are generally black, known as black household appliances. The use of nano silica can develop electrostatic shielding coatings, further control the color of coatings, and black appliances will become color appliances.


In the coating industry, the nano silica modified coating has greatly improved the poor suspension stability, thixotropy, weather resistance and scrub resistance, etc.


In the pigment and dye industry, it can overcome the shortcomings of poor light resistance, heat resistance, solvent resistance and migration resistance of organic pigments (dyes) despite their bright colors and strong coloring power. The surface modification of organic pigments (dyes) by adding nano silica not only greatly improves the anti-aging performance of pigments (dyes), but also improves the brightness, hue, saturation and other indicators to a certain extent, greatly expanding the grade and application range of organic pigments (dyes).


Silica has strong UV reflective ability and good stability. It will not decompose, discolor or react with other components in the formula after being irradiated by UV. Therefore, it can be used in advanced cosmetics, new UV resistant organic glass, etc.
