What is the difference between fumed silica and precipitation silica
Silica produced by the gas phase method and silica produced by the precipitation method are essentially the same, and the chemical name is silica. But the gas phase method is to use silicon tetrachloride and air to burn the silicon dioxide, the fineness is more than 1000 mesh, and the precipitation method is to use sodium silicate to add sulfuric acid to precipitate the silicon dioxide. The fineness is only 300-400 mesh. Silica produced by fumed silica is expensive and not easy to absorb moisture. Used as a matting agent in coatings. Precipitated silica is cheap and easy to absorb moisture. Can only be used for filling and reinforcing rubber and plastic products
