1 Introduction to the school
Nanjing University of technology, with a history of one hundred years, is one of the first batch of 14 colleges and universities selected into the national "innovation ability improvement plan of colleges and universities" (2011 plan). The school has 11 departments, 28 colleges and more than 30000 students. 2 Introduction to the College
The College of foreign languages and literature of Nanjing University of technology is formerly the English major of Nanjing Institute of chemical technology, which was established in 1988. In March 2002, the former school of foreign languages and international exchange of Nanjing University of technology and the foreign language teaching and Research Office of the former Nanjing Institute of architecture and engineering established a new school of foreign languages, which was renamed the school of foreign languages and literature of Nanjing University of technology in May 2015. The college has four undergraduate majors in English, Japanese, German and Chinese International Education and one master's degree awarding point of "foreign linguistics and Applied Linguistics". Among them, Japanese major was selected as the first-class undergraduate major in Jiangsu University in 2019. One belt, one road, is the five research center, which includes foreign language teaching and experimental teaching center, and applied linguistics, foreign literature and comparative literature, corpus and discourse analysis, language and cognition, and education research in the same area. In 2018, the foreign language and literature discipline of our university was ranked as "the best discipline of soft science in China", ranking 11th in Jiangsu Province, 5th in Nanjing, and top among engineering colleges in Jiangsu Province.
At present, the college has more than 110 full-time teachers, of which more than 40 have senior titles above associate professors, and most of them have overseas study experience. Among them, there are 4 academic leaders and key teachers of "blue and green project" in Jiangsu Province. After more than ten years of development and construction, a teaching staff with reasonable echelon, rigorous scholarship, strong scientific research ability and high academic level has been formed. In the past three years, teachers of the college have presided over 5 national social science funds, 1 social science fund of the Ministry of education, 9 Social Science Funds of Jiangsu Province, and 1 postgraduate education reform project of Jiangsu Province. He has published 10 monographs, 9 textbooks, more than 120 SSCI and a & HCI journals and core journals. Among them, the National Social Science Fund "Research on discrimination in Ryukyu, modern Japan", chaired by Professor Chen Shihua, has obtained the excellent level of closing in 2020, the graduate education and teaching reform and practice in Jiangsu Province, chaired by Professor Hu Yuanjiang and Professor Chen Shihua, has obtained the excellent level of closing, Professor Bao GUI's "statistical methods of linguistic research" and Liu Lingyu's "four level writing training of German major" In terms of teaching and research awards, Professor Chen Shihua won the first prize of 2017 "Jiangsu Social Sciences application research excellent project award", Professor Bao GUI won the third prize of the 15th Jiangsu philosophy and Social Sciences outstanding achievement award, and Associate Professor Liu Lingyu won the second prize of 2019 FLTRP multilingual "teaching star" competition.
The college has superior school running conditions and first-class software and hardware facilities. The foreign language teaching experiment center has 22 modern language laboratories, 7 multimedia classrooms, 1 recording and broadcasting room, which can provide advanced digital language experiment equipment and a large number of audio and video resources; 1 satellite TV room, which can listen to multilingual radio stations; 1 practical ability exhibition hall, which is committed to comprehensively improving the innovation and practice ability of teachers and students. The foreign language reference room is rich in Chinese and foreign books, language reference books and Chinese and foreign periodicals.
The college has continuously strengthened its foreign contacts and exchanges, and has successively established cooperative relations with many foreign universities, such as Birmingham City University, Huddersfield University, University of Missouri, national Kagoshima University, national triple University of Japan, Nagoya Industrial University, Leipzig University of technology, economy and culture in Germany. Every year, students are selected to Japan German universities study abroad or study for a short time. Teachers from friendly schools also visit each other frequently to promote academic exchanges.
The college trains "compound, applied and international" foreign language talents with the idea of "thick foundation, wide caliber" and innovative teaching methods.
