Question 10. What is the difference between registration and filing? What compliance is required for exporters of products to the EU?
Answer: Registration in REACH is a more detailed compliance process. Information on the physical and chemical properties, toxicological and ecotoxicological properties of chemical substances must be provided to ECHA. Regarding notifications, there is less information compared to registration and submission to ECHA. Under all normal circumstances, each product contains any SVHC> 0.1% wt / wt and the total tonnage of SVHC in the exported products exceeds 1 ton per year, the exporter should submit a declaration to ECHA.

Question 11. Sometimes I use some coatings on the product, how to calculate the 0.1% wt / wt of the coating material?
Answer: Because the paint is operated at a very small micron level, the amount of SVHC contained in the paint is normally considered to be a critical value of not more than 0.1%. But in general, the approximate percentage of SVHC in a coating can be calculated by comparing the total weight of the exported product with the weight of the coating used.

Question 12. What are the penalties for exporting non-compliant products?
Answer: REACH enforcement is carried out by the competent authorities of various European member states, so the nature of penalties varies from one member state to another. The most common penalties are the EU Customs' refusal to export products (products cannot pass EU Customs), and the detained goods in warehouses cannot be picked up. In addition, there may be economic penalties of up to thousands of euros and pounds.
