Cold shrinkable cable accessories are made of silicone rubber material with high elasticity. The high temperature vulcanized silicone rubber is injection-molded and vulcanized to be processed into tubular components of various structures. When the inner diameter of the component expands to about 3 times, a special plastic support tube is placed in the tubular component to keep the silicone rubber tubular component in an expanded state, and these expanded state components become parts of the cold shrinkable cable accessory.

When installing on site, put these expanded components into the treated cable ends or joints, pull out the internal support tube (strip), and the silicone rubber components automatically shrink and squeeze on the cable insulation. That is constituted as a cable accessory. Because it depends on the elastic retraction force of silicone rubber at room temperature, rather than heat shrinking like heat shrinking cable accessories, it is commonly called cold shrinking cable accessories.
