Nine common problems in the use of water-based inks

Water-based inks are mainly water-based, so there will be phenomena such as poor curing, slow drying, uneven ink color, and blurring.

Hue is not allowed
Reason analysis: The viscosity of the water-based ink is too low or the pigment content in the ink system is small or the color purity is deviated, the ink is precipitated during printing, and the transfer is poor. Mix the original ink, adjust the viscosity, stir the ink evenly before printing, and check whether the printing plate and the ink roller are aging.

Unstable viscosity
Reason analysis: The ink is thixotropic, foaming, and the solvent is volatile. The ink should be stirred evenly, and then an appropriate amount of defoamer (0.2%) should be added to make the volatilization gradient balance.

poor dryness
Reason analysis: The blotting does not dry or even sticks to the hand within the expected time. The ink viscosity is high, resulting in slow drying and poor absorption of the base paper or plastic and fabric. Dilute the ink, adjust the printing pressure to increase the blowing or drying tunnel temperature, or use fast-drying ink, or adjust the dryness. Swap the substrate to replace the shallow version.

Analysis of the reasons: the high-profile parts of the printed products are blurred, the dots are blurred and the tone is lost. The quality of the printing plate is not high, the contact between the printing plate and the ink roller is too tight, the viscosity of the ink is large and the ink is thickened, the ink dries too fast and the stirring is poor. The pad should be adjusted evenly and evenly to adjust the printing pressure. When adjusting the viscosity of the ink, the water and alcohol should be mixed reasonably and stirred evenly, and the ventilation device should be adjusted. Do not blow on the ink roller. And increase the machine speed to scrub with water containing monoethanolamine or add 0.2% dimethyl silicone oil or increase the proportion of coupling agent.

Reason analysis: The pad elasticity of the printing plate is too large, the contact is too tight, the pressure is too large, the ink privacy is too low, and the ink is poorly stirred. Pad the plate, adjust the height of the printing plate, adjust the printing pressure or manual screen printing scraper pressure, adjust the drill degree to the ink with high drill degree or replace the ink with high hardness and stir the ink reasonably.

Poor transfer
Reason analysis: insufficient printing pressure, too high hardness of printing plate, too strong water resistance of paper, etc., and wear and aging of ink roller. Increase the printing pressure and use hydrophobic ink to check the wear and aging of the ink roller. The replacement of the auxiliary coupling agent causes the metal anilox roller to be blocked and worn.

The ink foams, and the foam overflows after the ink circulates in the ink fountain of the printer
Reason analysis: The ink system has insufficient foam suppressor, the circulation of the ink is insufficient, the water is too large, the pump circulation volume is too large, and the tube leaks and the ink is too thin. Appropriately add defoamer (0.2% or mix both internal and external plasticizers and defoamer) to reduce the pump circulation and replenish new ink, so that it does not dilute the inspection tube too much to prevent air leakage.

Reason analysis: excessive amount of defoamer is added, ink dilution is too low, and low-concentration ink is over-inked. It should be mixed with the original ink and mixed well before printing.

Plate wear
Reason analysis: too tight contact, too heavy printing pressure or good quality of printing plate. Adjust the contact, adjust the printing pressure to replace the printing plate or add a 3mm plastic foam sheet behind the plate.
