Leveling agent

Hits: 101 img

After the coating is applied, it needs to be leveled automatically. If the fluidity of the coating is not good, the coating will have surface defects. There are 4 factors that affect the flow and leveling performance of the coating during the film forming process: one is the surface tension of the coating, adding a low surface tension silicone material as a leveling agent can ensure the leveling of the coating; The critical surface tension of the coating substrate; the third is the solubility and volatilization speed of the dilution solvent. The coating needs to be formulated to a viscosity suitable for construction before use. If the solubility of the solvent is too small and the volatilization speed is too fast, the coating will affect the leveling, wet The thickness of the film also affects the leveling of the coating; the fourth is the construction environment of the coating (for example, the environmental temperature affects the volatilization speed of the solvent), the construction method (brushing, spraying, printing, etc.), the viscosity of the coating and the treatment of the coating surface degree.

In order to ensure the good fluidity of the coating, a leveling agent must be added to the coating. Leveling agents can be divided into: solvents (aromatic hydrocarbons, ketones, esters, alcohol ethers), silicones or modified silicones (silicone oil, polyether modification, polyester modification, Organic modification (phenyl, alkyl), reactive functional group modification (hydroxyl, amino, epoxy, etc.)], acrylates (polyacrylate copolymers or homopolymers), fluorosurfactants [ Fluorocarbon polymer or fluorocarbon modified polymer (fluorocarbon modified polyacrylate)]. In order to ensure good surface performance of the coating, the general leveling agent should have both wetting properties. The best way is to use a leveling agent in combination with a wetting agent.
