Department introduction
Since its establishment, the school of food and light industry of Nanjing University of technology has made great strides in various undertakings, focusing on the national strategic needs and based on the regional economic development, focusing on strengthening discipline construction, striving to improve the level of school running and the quality of personnel training.
The college has a complete training system from bachelor to postdoctoral. At present, there are 2 doctoral degree authorization points (fermentation engineering, biomaterials), 1 master degree authorization point (Food Science and Engineering), 1 full-time Master degree authorization point (light industry technology and Engineering), and 3 full-time undergraduate majors (Food Science and engineering, light chemical engineering, food quality and safety).
At present, the college has 2 doctoral supervisors, 9 professors and 18 associate professors. More than 90% of them have doctoral degree and more than 50% have overseas study background. By introducing and educating both sides, the college has continuously optimized the structure of teachers, gathered a group of scholars and young and middle-aged discipline leaders with rigorous academic research, profound academic attainments and outstanding scientific research achievements, including one national excellent youth, one young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions in Jiangsu Province, one winner of Jiangsu outstanding youth fund, and "333" in Jiangsu Province There are 4 high-level talents training objects, 4 training objects of "six talent peaks", 5 backbone teachers of blue and blue project, 1 "321 talent plan" and 1 leading scientific and technological entrepreneurship talents in Nanjing.
The college attaches great importance to scientific research and achievement transformation, and adheres to the interactive development of industry, University and research. In recent years, it has undertaken national "973" and "863" projects, National Natural Science Foundation, major national science and technology projects, national support plan and provincial key R & D plan projects. It has won the second prize of national technology invention, Hou Debang chemical science and technology award, the first prize of science and technology invention of China Federation of petroleum and chemical industry, the first prize of science and technology progress award of China Federation of petroleum and chemical industry, the first prize of technology invention of excellent scientific research achievements of colleges and universities and many other national, provincial and ministerial awards.

Among the 2019 graduates, the employment rate reached 98.86%.
Among the graduates, there are 14 who go abroad, including the excellent graduates who enter the world famous universities such as Queensland University and Birmingham University. Most of the students who went to university in China stayed in the University for further study, and some went to the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, South China University of technology, Jiangnan University and other domestic high-level universities. Among the graduates taking part in the work, the fields of work mainly involve food, clothing and textile, electronics, biological pharmacy, etc., and the employment direction is very wide.

Employment characteristics of graduates

The employment area of graduates covers the economically developed areas such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Yangtze River Delta. The entry enterprises include the state organs and institutions such as the customs, the market supervision and Administration Bureau, as well as the well-known enterprises at home and abroad such as Yihaijiali, Luolai home textile, COFCO group, Wangwang group, Yili dairy, Jiangsu Huarui, Huayi Group, etc.
The college has continuously innovated the new mode of joint training and maintained close cooperation in teaching and scientific research with world-renowned universities. It has signed the "3 + 1 + 1" international exchange program of the two schools of food with the University of Leeds, UK, which provides a good platform for students to study abroad, receive high-level education and expand international vision during their undergraduate study.

classic case
Class 1502 of food is an advanced class in Jiangsu Province. The school has established the "Zhou Enlai class" Nomination class and the May 4th Red Flag League branch of the school. There are 25 graduates in the class, 7 for further education and 18 for employment.
